I wonder if there will ever come a day
when I would remember the time I could still walk;
when my spinal nerves were still intact
and didn't have the need to be in someone else's wheelchair
riding through the whitewashed hospital walls,
forcing my small and lethargic cubed figure
onto the edge of the stairs just so I could hear
what little sound my ears could catch
from the people and vehicles
rushing in and out of the back gates of a place
that I didn't have the say of admittance to
The grime sticks
