A

IF POETRY WAS A PERSON

IF POETRY WAS A PERSON

If poetry was a person

She would look like a woman

Who wears her pain like a crown

As if telling the world

Being a woman

Is the ultimate gift

From the universe.

Head up in the clouds

Feet firm on the ground,

Like a candle in the wind

Drifting through storms

And still waters,

She's a woman

Who's more than sugar and spice

She got steel for bones

And a heart of fire and ice,

She wears her scars on her sleeves

And has seen

The world from different angles

Nothing will bring her down.
