if you ask me what my typical grievance with the world was, i would tell you that i have always had a hard time not seeing the world as a prolonged punishment to me. i would tell you that my transformation, at around the age of fourteen, from a slightly frumpy, slightly depressed, slightly angry but mostly unassuming teenager and occasional unrealistic dreamer into a flashy, imperious, hyperbolic lively person had ignited in me a phoniness that i was welcoming in my life on every level. i might try to explain how the circumstances in question was the one at my very side , a place i'd essentially follow from the day i matriculated and then proceeded to use as the training ground and later backdrop for my new suffering self. i might throw in the fact that i was deeply concerned with what kind of person i was before my matriculation because it would surely be a direct reflection of the kind of person i was.
