He wore a smug grin on his face.
He knew he must touch base.
Everything that he ever fought for, fell apart.
including his heart.
Now when you see him, he walks with a gun in his side.
This time there ain't gonna be no one who will take him for a ride.
He had to grow up a little to fast in his young years.
Listening to his story, will bring you to tears.
His mom left him to fend for himself.
At thirteen you still don't know what life Is about.
He had to walk the streets holding out his hands.
A little bit of change, can buy him something to eat, that he understands.
His dad used to abuse him and his mom, so they ran away.
A hungry stomache is better then a bruised face, they will be okay.
Shelter to shelter they had slept.
Anger inside, they had wept.
Now today, they found a place to call home.
It's nothing special, but at least it's their own.
He knows what it is like to struggle and win.
He's met the devil, he has sinned.
God put out his hands, to survive.
He is happy, because he is alive.
