If You Like Me, What's Wrong With You?

If You Like Me, What's Wrong With You?
I don’t trust people who say they care,  Who look at me like I’m something rare.  Because if you see gold in this wreck,  You either missed a step—  or you're ignoring the mess.
See, there’s something broken beneath my skin,  A rusted hinge, a cracked within.  And I’ve learned to smile through shattered parts,  Tape the seams, repaint the scars.
So when you say you’re drawn to me,  I wonder what it is you see.  Not out of pride—don’t get me wrong—  It’s just... I’ve felt defective far too long.
If you want me, are you blind?  Is it the chaos you hope to find?  Because if I’m the one you choose,  Then darling, what do you stand to lose?
I’m learning love, but it’s a fight—  To trust, to stay, to sleep at night.  So if you say you want my flame,  Know this fire’s also pain.
And if there’s something wrong with me—  (I’m convinced there has to be)—  Then maybe what you feel is true...  But it still makes me ask:  What’s wrong with you?
