No matter that I now have my love
Before he could discover his for me
I had to find within myself
What it is that makes me happy
I had to learn to at least like this woman
Alone, before with another
And once I learned just what I liked
I then learned how to love her
To be able to look into a mirror
And smile genuinely at who I was
Is a proud moment not too many feel
To love yourself without a "because"
Its more than just the day you take
To focus on self care
Its understanding the mistakes of the past
And love yourself everyday, everywhere
I have the days I doubt myself
Because of where I'm "supposed to be"
But the realization that "the standard" set
Is not mine, but society's
I create my own standards
I'm right where I want to be
Keeping up with the Jones
Has nothing to do with how
I love me
