In shelters
One will try their best
To survive
When it's cold
It is far better
To shelter
When hungry
It is far better
To nickel
Collect cans
Dig for the bottles
People toss
Nickels mean
I can buy a meal
Find the food
That will feed
A soul so weary
Nearly warn
Gather not
Like grasshoppers be
Seek out not.......
Soup kitchens
Will oft times fall
On hard times
Doors will close
On those days I seek
Food elsewhere
Church sponsored
Soup kitchens will feed
Your soul
In days old
When the dollar fell
They fed you
Crust if bread
A thinly laced soup
Least twas food
In days past
A soup mission would
Feed both souls
To each soul
They would feed the need
Pray...Eat...Sleep...
