In Our World

In our world, our life already had a story written long ago
Once upon a time, where I would wish time could have just stopped
In a place more appealing to us there than what these weary eyes actually see
Put together by rearranging the pieces of this reality
Thank God for two sided puzzles.
In our world love has purpose
We could be together there
For every day is still a challenging piece
But in our world the picture complete is not something to fear
What pieces do you see?
In our world my hands are strong for good use
They clench your hands with full confidence and feel
They hold together our bands, while we run through the painted fields
At least, I tell you all this with but an old pen
And withered hands that refuse to yield...
In our world it's so odd how everything makes sense
People don't walk with chairs or talk with only glances
Individually we're adorned, we're accepted there
We have no reason for shame
We keep our many beautiful masks, but now, just as mementos before real smiles
In our world, "why not" is the saying
“Possibilities“ is our endless song
We sing it all our days
Never cut short, never aged
"Things Left Unsaid" though, is what we groan these days
But our world is a true fantasy
And that doesn't mean it's not true
For if had my choice, and I do...
Rather than this grim fable of our youth
I would choose to live in that reality...
With you
Because this world is ending
But our world is always brand new
It's prepared for you and I there
Right now, as just a dream,
A dream yet to come true...
