In this old heart of mine...

In this old heart of mine, it lays defective.
It's been played upon like forever, I am becoming selective.
I don't let just anyone inside my heart anymore.
The way it has been played, it's getting sore.

I wear my heart on the sleeve, because it's fragile and weak.
I bury my soul so nobody will know.
So to speak.
I have grown over the years,
To know me, you will fear.

My callous core of my heart awaits for us to unitedly be together.
I have played the part oh so well, I know there is no forever.
Everyone tells me that if he didn't care then he would of been long gone.
I know their are fantastic actors out there, so how could I be so wrong.

I have been so gullible in the past.
You were a good manipulator, things just happened way to fast.
I didn't read the signs the way it was supposed to be read.
You tell me it's all in my head.
Now I am letting go of what was never really mine.
They say things get better, then why don't I feel very fine.
This shakey feeling I have in my heart,
Is telling me it's time that we part.
