Incarcerated Dreams

He still dreams to reach the stars
From a dark cell behind cold bars
He knows the world is yet to see
The man she believed he could be
She spends her nights thinking of him
Trapped alone with her hopes and insomnia
He has been gone forever it seems
She fights alone the cold and pneumonia
He has his plans carefully laid out
He knows how high are the stakes
Parole isn't his last benefit of doubt
He can't hurt her anymore with his mistakes
The memory of their last night still burns
A passion steadfast in every trial they've faced
She daily longs for the day he returns
The hope of expectation is her saving grace.
He still dreams to buy her the stars
When he is out from behind cold bars
He has vowed if one day he is finally free
He will be the man she always knew he could be.
