INDEPENDENCE,
Long ago I have this question in mind,
An answer I long to find,
For I want to know the real meaning bind,
To the word independence designed,
Because when ever life is rewind,
Independence was never kind,
To my African mankind.
Right from the time Africans celebrate independence,
We all hoped that it brings an end to violence,
But unfortunately, it brings about a new vehemence,
That never stop from the time it commence,
And ever since then peace was never compromise.
We claimed to be independence,
But I still look at the situation of;
Corruption in Nigeria,
Conflict in Liberia,
Violence in Syria,
Insurgence in Indonesia,
Political disputes in Zambia,
Religion crisis in Ethiopia,
Dishonesty prevail in our areas,
Injustice has now become a criteria,
In our government.
I still can't understand the word independence that bring dilemma to human community,
An independence that took away peace and unity,
Independence that destroy honesty and integrity,
Independence that brings about corruption and brutality,
Independence that brings about violence, deceit, injustice, and selfishness in our society.
And yet we celebrate independence, when we still need defense by our fences,
And yet we cheers independence, when our countries enter recession which leads to regression and retardation if development,
And yet we eulogize and glorify independence, when we have larcenous, rogues, rustlers and thieves as rulers while the citizens struggle to find food for survival.
Now, here is my question to you,
I want an answer with clear view,
I don't understand answer I dew,
For your society gives you a clue,
Are we really INDEPENDENT
or we are actually IN-DEPENDENT?
