From ancient Greece to modern times,
The poets of our world have shone like a million stars.
Their words have lit the darkness,
Their thoughts have inspired the hearts.
Homer sang of heroes and gods,
His Iliad and Odyssey still echo in our minds.
Virgil, with his Aeneid, shaped the Roman soul,
A guide to their glory, a symbol of their control.
Shakespeare crafted characters that live on,
Hamlet, Romeo, Othello, and Macbeth,
Their struggles and passions still resonate,
Their words still echo in every breath.
Byron and Shelley gave voice to love,
The beauty and pain of life they captured,
In sonnets and stanzas, they painted emotions,
Their verses pure poetry, a pure rapture.
Emily Dickinson's simplicity and depth,
Her introspection, and her pain,
Her words, like seeds in the soul,
Growing and blooming in the rain.
Pablo Neruda, the Chilean bard,
Whose poetry sings of love and nature,
His words an ode to all that's alive,
A celebration of every creature.
Maya Angelou, whose voice rings true,
Her strength and resilience, a beacon,
Her words a call to the human heart,
A reminder of the path to freedom.
These poets and more have left their mark,
Their words still echo in our hearts,
Their influence on the world profound,
Their legacies, a lasting work of art.
