Innocence

"Am I guilty?", the prisoner questioned
but who was going to see his plight,
the judge looked at him and sanctioned
a lifetime, and shoot to kill on flight.
None heard the plea in the ringing
of his shackles, justice is blind indeed
as it didn't see the regret swarming
in his eyes as tears, none paid heed.
The lawyer who had interrogated him
brutally in the past few days continuously,
danced with glee in front of him,
shaking hands and smiling pompously.
What led him to kill doesn't matter at all
now, justice has been announced,
he stood quite although he was right, even when it was time to go home for all,
except him, but along with his will to fight
his feelings also he had renounced.
