Broken bones and a messed up back, I find that fortitude is what I lack.
In a world of me myself and I, it becomes too apparent that I just want to die.
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, I'd give an eternity to share with you a booth.
But a dollar for a thought that just ain't worth a penny, this is the mindset now of oh way too many.
Haunted dreams within a perilous night, I hear all their screams and it chills me with fright.
A red button to press and it could have saved all this grief, but we did what was right for "humanity"
Now a sickening picture we soldiers now paint, full of such sorrow, such pity, such hate.
And a world we once fought for has turned us away, then we find ourselves living like a dog astray.
Bullets in our torsos and blood on our hands and all this for what? Your promised land?
A monster we see now inside of the mirror and this creatures wounds could not be more clearer.
When we came back home you didn't cry nor cheer, you threw garbage at us, puke and beer.
And called us all evil said we did it for greed, one day lowly human you'll find its me that you need.
When that day comes around one more time, again, you'll find that this "demon" is no longer a friend.
So shun me tomorrow and shun me today but soon your time will come and I'll look the other way.
Lay your head on that pillow, that of which I provide, that pillow of liberty cut from the cloth of suicide.
And cover yourself in that blanket I've sown, that blanket of freedom that of which is my own.
It's too late for repentance, we've lost hope in you and now we band together, uncle Sam's favored few.
And we lay here in waiting for that faithful day when you'll call for us to save you and then we'll walk away.
