It's Like I Never Left

I know you haunt me, I see you in my sleep
I feel your presence watching me, even outside my dreams
Tell me why I dreamt you in the car
My dad sitting next to you with your long brown hair hanging over the side
My backseat eyes almost died, I was delirious when I woke up in the same backseat
No brown hair in sight, just the road lights
My heart pounded, and the sweat was surreal
It's crazy how many nightmares can feel real
And even now I dream of you in my house,
Then I dream of the house I left and still wake up in a sweat
And isn't it funny how you're always there
Your long fingers reaching for me to hold
While I still pull away and scream
"Go away mum!"
Nothing has changed, even when I left
Because even miles away from a body that's not even dead,
I still see your face trying to claw at my hair
