The air changes, a feeling... A smell, almost unnoticed but it is there in the breeze and it heralds what is to come.
The first droplet lands and a smile spreads, that cold first sting as it runs off my skin to the ground.
The sky opens up and it is that of a million tiny drum beats pattering off every surface,
the sound of the leaves as water trickles off them adding to the symphony like whispered laughter on the wind.
Everywhere is sensation,
sounds and smells all changed in this instant, The world is enriched as the scent of bark and soil in the air grows stronger, euphoric to me as if a old friend has come to tell me of thier day.
A torrential downpour comes along with the wind and I am pulled by phantom hands that tug at my clothes as I shelter myself, water beading my jacket and stream off my hair.
I see the wind and rain as they dance like lovers on the floor,
sweeping each other back and forth in passion before running away together.
Reading the ground for the next dance.
This is my time of joy, my moment of peace and tranquility that flows through me like the water travelling down my face.
I am completely soaked and grateful to be so, as I savour this ephemeral moment.
Just me and the rain.
