Looking out to the backyard
It's dark and damp and cold
Rain has just fallen recently
There may be ice on the roads
Noise from the ice rink tonight
A few people playing hockey
The sound of the puck banging
And the sticks shooting sharply
The ducks are a common sight
They frequent the lake often
Some are not shy with quacking
Sometimes I wish it would soften
