Johnny went off to war, to fight for his country.
Becky told him that she would wait for him to come home, when he is free.
They were high school sweethearts.
They won't ever let the army tear them apart.
They loved one another to much.
But hopefully all this separation time, don't kill their love.
It's been already six months that he was off to war, Becky had missed his kisses.
Every time the doorbell rings, his presence is what she wishes.
She is always scared thinking he is dead.
It's the letters that keep her going, it's all the love in them she had read.
Holding on for one more day, is what keeps her sane.
Telling herself that everything will be okay.
A knock appears on the door,
It was a man in a suit with a letter from Johnny, one not to be ignored.
The man said :
I am sorry Ma'am, but I am here to give you Johnny's belongings, he has passed away.
The man left and Becky was not okay.
She read his letter:
Dear Becky, my love:
If you receive this letter, it's because I was killed in the war.
I know this letter would definitely not be enough.
But I am so sorry, darling, my heart had tore.
I hope you can forgive me, and find what makes you happy.
One day we will meet again, in heaven.
Love Johnny xxx
Becky was so hurt and wiped her tears.
If this is what Johnny wants, I will try to move on without any fears.
She never forgot her one true love.
She buried his ashes with all.their romantic stuff.
Maybe Johnny was dead,
But their memories still lingered on his side of the bed.
Thank you tiffany for collaborating this poem with me.
