Friday was a day
Like most any day
When I was so down
Goodbye to this world I wanted to say,
I fear not dying, living life on my terms
So this fact I shall not hide
Far to many times
I've attempted suicide,
Suicide's are far to high
Among my brother and sister Veterans
Depression eating our spirits
So failure leads to trying again,
This last time I reached out
To the Veterans Crisis Line
Those who answer the calls
Gladly give of their time,
They ask many questions
About how you feel or have a safety plan
These people won't forsake you
With you gladly stand,
The call is totally free
That's right, not a thin dime
All you need to give
Is just a bit of your time,
Any Vet who is depressed
Think that dying's the only way
Put down tose pills gun or knife
Save a worthy life today,
Your life has not been a waste
There're people who care about you
Make that call, have that talk
Shiw you care about you, too.
Living will not be easy
It's just easier with the right tool
Let not your demons win
Make them look the fool.
You'll be so glad you did.
