Just once,
I want to be the poem
not the poet,
to be read with wonder, not written in pain.
Just once,
I want to be the love
not the lover,
to be held without the fear of being left.
Just once,
I want to be the moon
not the one who looks up,
to be adored in silence, not in need.
Just once,
I want to be the song
not the singer,
to be heard without begging to be understood.
Just once,
I want to be the peace
not the wanderer chasing calm,
to simply breathe,
and still be worthy of love… just as I am.
