Kiss the flame

She was about 4 years old, when she was told her to stop playing double dutch
she knows this game that was more fun, but fun for whom?
Because you see, she never knew the name or the rules of the game she introduce too
But hell it definitely taught her a thing or two,
Like black and blue were colours that actually grew,
So she says “I’ve gotta tell daddy you’ve taught me something new”
But she whispers no! This is our secret; it’s between me and you,
Fast forward years later and she’s still tight lip.
But I’ll tell you this, though it hurt, it was not the mere act but the betrayal that almost took her breathe away,
Trials and tribulations, she's been through the fire and the rain
Through the storm and through it all, her two best friends they’ve kept her head high so she says
Excuse me if I refuse to be trap in the game
Excuse me if I refuse to label every encounter as the same
Excuse me if I decide to stand tall amidst the rain
Excuse me if I decide to embrace my pain
Excuse me if I decide to kiss the flame!
