Philippians 2:19-23
19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.
20 For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.
22 But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.
23 Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.
KEY VERSE: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
_Mark 8:36-37_
Timothy with Paul was a son to his father. He was not comparing himself with Paul. He was not comparing his anointing with Paul’s. He was not comparing his popularity with Paul’s. He was not comparing his giftedness with Paul. He was not comparing his calling with Paul’s. No! He was a son to his father. These are the kind of people the Lord is looking for. People the Lord will raise up that will be subject to authority* and dead to self for Jesus submitted to Joseph His father until he was thirty years. Joseph was not a minister anyway, but he was head in all family matters. Why did Jesus not jump out of that place and say, “No, I can’t stay here?”_ Submission was part of the work of God; part of the nature of God; that you submit under another. Aaron submitted to Moses and for that reason he got heaven. The most important thing for you is that you go to heaven. It is not the popularity of your name. It is not that you should be known everywhere.
Therefore, young boy, young girl, you know how to run but you don’t know how to hide, for wisdom is with the ancients.When you see a man with grey hair, that is wisdom. When Daniel talked about seeing the Ancient of days he said his hair was as white as wool. John said the same thing in the book of Revelation. When Jesus appeared to him His hair was as white as wool. That talks of wisdom. Wisdom is with the ancient but children know how to run. We are not training youths to just go and show forth themselves. To go and brag. To go and make noise and scatter things. They will kill you very fast. You will lose your life because pride goes before a fall and a haughty spirit before destruction.
Thought for the Day: Humility will advance you in life but pride will bring you down.
