Ledge
Earlier today I sat on a ledge,
I thought of what would happen if I fell.
The faces of those that would find me,
The words that they would tell.
The possible reasons I wanted to fly,
All of the reasons I wanted to try.
All of the things that I could never be,
All of the things I would never see.
All of the things led me to think,
All of what I had worked for and did.
How quick it would disappeared in a blink,
How I'd finally feel freed.
I didn't want to jump, I really didn't,
I had all my reasons telling me to take a leap.
With only the mountains as my witness,
Not even having to energy to weep.
I stepped off and away from that ledge,
Taking another look at the edge.
There I had sat, planning to fly,
Becoming one with all the roads that go by.
Almost.
