I can hear the ticking of the clock
As hour by hour slowly goes by
I am haunted by what used to be and frightened by what lies ahead
Hard lessons have been learned
My heart has taken a beating, and perhaps foolishly I believe it's beginning to mend
I can hear the ticking of the clock
As hours turn into days
And days into weeks
And weeks turn into months
Time has helped the memories of you become less and less
And I find your name is less frequent in my vocabulary
You are no longer a part of me
All that remains are the scars of you
And they serve as a reminder of a place I hope to never return.
