In my arms you will find a safe haven. My hands I will never raise against you and if this will make me a lesser man, then so be it. If the value of a man is to be ascertained by how well he can beat his wife, then, regrettably, we are lost.
But know this, I unequivocally denounce the notion that a man is entitled to discipline his wife even by means of physical violence if necessary. I would never allow a man to lay a finger on my mother, why then, I ask, should I lay a finger on you? Will you not be someone's mother? How can I possibly claim to love you and yet beat you senseless?
Continually, starting today, I will remind myself that you are Gods priced property not mine. For I am to be but a steward who must give account one day.
I do not wish to paint myself perfect, occasionally, I will loose my cool and speak out of tone but my words will never be abusive, or belittling, nor will they undermine your value. I will strive to listen and understand your views as I hope you will mine.
