Letters to God (Pt 3)

Dear, God
I miss her
And I haven’t even met or seen her
But she feels as familiar
As my favourite shirt
My intention is not to sound like a creep
But just thinking of her calms me enough to fall asleep

Dear, God
Where did she come from?
I sweat a little too often, my heart pounds like a drum
And it only gets worse
Talking over the phone isn’t easy when you can’t find the words
Imagine what that’d be like in person
I’d hate myself if I left things unspoken

Dear, God
I love her laugh
I love to make her laugh
Forgive me if I’m being too forward thanking You on her parents’ behalf
I don’t know what a choir of angels sounds like, but I bet
Her laugh is as close as it gets
Dear, God, I’m smiling now because we both know she’d say ‘love is deaf’

Dear, God
She gets me
Dear, God, it feels like You made her for me
The other day she said something about twin souls
She’s trying her best to patch the holes
In my heart
And I’m starting to feel the sting of Cupid’s poison dart

Dear, God
I broke that promise again
And just when I was on the mend
I guess ‘stag for life’ and I weren’t a good blend
Holding out hope that manic lows don’t become a trend
But it feels different this time
She completes my rhyme

Dear, God
