Letting Go

Seasons came
And seasons went
The rain held no candle
To the tears on that day
Remembrance punished
After all, things stayed the same
I called out to you
But it was already too late
Vengeance held you still
For the onslaught of your hate
You turn your face away
I force myself for one more look
Someone I loved way back when
Carved out hearts in place of hooks
A snare, she does not ask for
Yet she pulls down with her
So many souls.
And it's on this day,
From the night unto the dawn
When the sun rose up a new this time
Like we promised, 7 on the dot
I lay to rest a long sense cold part of me
To the ashes of my best friend.
And off this new day
From blood ties and bitter ends
I take solace in newfound easement
Of blinded eyes and
Letting go...
