When you find yourself,
In one of life's darkest valleys,
And find yourself in them you will,
Don't look ahead as the darkness might overwhelm you,
The sound of the raging river in the distance,
Might instill fear in you, leaving you unable to move.
Look down instead, at the ground beneath you,
And take a step forward, then one more after that,
As by the time you make it to the river,
This might have calmed down,
For seasons change,
And so do rivers,
And you, too, shall make it across.
When you find yourself,
Atop one of life's mountains,
And find yourself up there you will,
Look ahead and take in the view.
Don't be fooled though, keep in mind,
Nobody stays forever on top of a mountain,
Not even the bravest of the brave.
For seasons change,
And with them the conditions on every mountain's peak.
Rejoice, savour your decent,
Let it be sweet not bitter,
Be of good advice to the ones you meet,
making their ascent.
Remind yourself of the fearsome beauty,
Found in the darkest of valleys,
The majestic sound of the raging river guiding you ahead,
And the cold wind that cut through you
atop the mountain,
Its stillness, changing everything by remaining unchanged.
For you shall long for both,
When you find yourself in the pastures of life's meadow.
