Yes, life on the farm was fun, too
(I found fun in the hardwork)
We'd take long strands
Of bailing twine and
We'd get creative
We made Tarzan and
Of course rope ladders
In the hay loft we made hideaways
To get away hiding
Among the feash cut hay
Bails that I stacked
In hideaway's I made
All these disappered in winter
As cows needed hay to eat
Any excess we traded with
Other local farmers
For goods that we could use
I used to walk the ridge beam
Fourty feet long
All of 100 ft from the floor
I'd walk it end to end
At times I'd run it
(Which I did from age nine)
The swimming hole, a pond
Made for some good fishing
As well as some cooling off
These were made by beaver
Which a few we'd trap in winter
A weep hole kept the
Water flowing and fresh
The water could be as much
As ten to twelve feet deep
A really long Tarzan rope
Would swing us to the center
Letting us dive to the bottom
Oh, don't try diving
Onto cloth or newspaper
It's liken to diving onto
Solid bone breaking concrete
Bones don't like a hit like that
Know where you're diving
For you could get snagged
On a fallen tree or branch
Caused hy a harsh winter
Watch out for your dingaling
Snapping turtles love to bite
At any danging objects
They see it as a small fish
Or a very large nightcrawer.
So skinny deep with great care.
