LIKE I REMEMBERED

LIKE I REMEMBERED
I came across the park of my childhood, the trees were big now, their branches wider, there were more play things than before, the place was full of noise, yet somehow empty.

The park no longer had that annoying, noisy swing I always complained about.
Now, the swings looked even better, or maybe they still made the noise, and maybe I couldn't stay long because the park was getting crowded.

Ice cream truck passed by, but nobody stirred.
Maybe nobody recognized the bell anymore, or maybe the ice cream truck never passed by.
Was it a memory?

I looked around one last time, everything felt more occupied than I remembered.
But I wasn't fourteen anymore, and I had somewhere else to go.
