little sister
----------------
I remember little details
like odd photographs falling
her holding hands with dad
so small with that red bonnet
Mother was pleased she wore it
As i never would have done
i always had my own sence of self
I wasn't the girly girl she wanted
where as the red bonnet girl succumbed
this wasn't the only bullying she received
girls at school pretending they were friends
only to reveal evil intent
a husband that walked away
leaving his two girls and a failing wife
why was i strong
Where she was not
what made us so different in life's lot
Being so much older
i wasn't there when needed
too late now
she has slipped into the ether
and only the falling photographs
stir
in my mind
