Today’s a morose and moody kind of day
The sky is dark, the leaves are dead, and summers gone away.
The tears from heaven never seem to stop
As they strike and bounce off the cold and barren blacktop.
A pall of gloom numbs me with dread
As the landscape around me turns both frozen and dead.
So I sit here on this cold hard street
Wondering once again if I’ll get something healthy to eat.
I’ve lived my life on these streets for so long
That I can’t help but wonder how my whole life went wrong.
I guess sometimes that’s just how life will be
So it could be you on these streets someday just like me.
I truly hope for you that it never comes true
There’s only a few on the streets who’ll really care about you.
Most people will walk by you with total disregard
So stay in your home with your family and your little backyard.
