I sleep and I slumber,
I sleep and I slumber.
Opportunity passes by,
Time and money passes by,
I sleep and I slumber.
I'm a dreamer, I'm a visionary,
Yet, I'm misguided, I'm miseducated,
I sleep and I slumber.
Everytime they tell me to dream big,
I pull my blankets and snore,
I sleep and I slumber.
They dragged me to school,
I never understood the concept.
They taught me foreign intellect, I misinterpreted,
I sleep and I slumber.
I spent years learning;
History on how we got manipulated,
Science on how we came to be,
But none of it was ever related,
To the actual way we living.
Perhaps the reason why our roads are crooked,
And we can't seem to fathom what's in the books,
I sleep and I slumber.
They should've told me, money is the key to everything,
Rather they told me knowledge is power,
And the very key to my ignition,
I sleep and I slumber.
Instead of teaching me workmanship,
They taught me philosophy,
Instead of practically engaging me,
They subdued me with theory,
I sleep and I slumber.
Instead of teaching me in my mother tongue,
They taught me in English,
I misunderstood, they questioned my intelligence,
I sleep and I slumber.
I'm an African, I condemn modern education,
I sleep and I slumber.
