Lockdown

My mind was free
Living life in a small town
Until Corona made the news
Went on a killing spree
Put the world on lockdown
Sit on my couch
Switching station to station
North east west and south
Nothing knew being mentioned
Cover the mouth
Wash hands, sanitize
Hands away from the eyes
For politicians its business as usual
Trying to sell their lies
Can't keep their distance
Fail to practice what is crucial
Then Question peoples resistance
My mind was free
Then the color of my skin
Suddenly lost the freedom key
Being black feels like a sin
When George Floyd made the news
The world matched the streets
For justice review
Of racial brutality
By the boys in blue
Check in another reality
Bad news from my boss
When lockdown is through
What becomes of me?
When all is at loss
I got nowhere to be
Trapped in a safety lockdown
My mind slowly shutdown.
