Looking For the Christmas Magic

Light shines upon her face
“it’s time to wake”, her mother calls
She blinks her eyes and turns in bed
The covers are then pulled up to her head.
Wearily she descends the stairs
The rabbit clutched against her chest
Memories start to unfold
She remembers the stories she was told.
Decorations she can see
Red and gold upon the tree
She looks around for their new place
 everywhere except the fireplace.
Her brother smiles, he sees her face
The wonder of that new found place
Breathlessly anticipating the conclusion
Realising he created this illusion
“There they are”, she calls out loud
Her brother hugs her, feeling proud
The intricate plan went without a hitch,
The seasonal magic did enrich.
Thoughts and ideas fill his head
Where do they go to next
The architect runs upstairs
His mind is racing while he prepares.
The boy is happy its all complete,
He holds his sister and starts to speak
“They are here to watch over you,
The magic of the season they imbue”.
