Looking Through

Through a patents eye
I see the falsehoods I pass down to my children
Leading to a dream that will never come true
Through a parents eye
I hear the outcomes associated with my white lie
Following the failure of my children's dreams
Through a parents eyes
I realize the pain I have caused my children by giving them an exaggerated praise for a talent they do not have
This causes a sharp pain in my heart
Knowing I did not take the right action
Through a parents eye
I can only watch as my children go on branching paths from their childhood dreams
They begin to venture into their mundane lives
I have to look away do to the ache in my heart
Through a parents eye
I finally see I should have told them the truth
Allowing for my children to find their true talent
Not harping on the fact of not being good at something else
Through a parents eye
I can only wish the best for my children
Looking on as they avoid the grave mistakes I made with them
Starting a family of their own
