I thought I understood the concept of profit and loss
I could either win someone over or I could lose them
but your not with me nor against me
you are not far nor near
I don't have you but I haven't lost you either
we are not apart nor together
how can our circumstances be so mutually exclusive
in order to understand the concept further I studied it further and
I found the term that perfectly describes us
we are at break-even
we have just enough to get by and be at peace with
we are not strong nor weak
we are not content nor complaining
maybe it's best to keep a safe near distance and remain separately united bonded and linked
not by links of one chain but two seperate chains connected through a magnet
we are the in-between
at any moment we can win or lose
if the magnet dare falls or
if we are a rand more or less
it is clear that
we are holding on to a thin line of hope
both at each end
contemplating on the roughness and gentleness needed
but it only takes a stumble for it to snap
