Lost Child

Life started absent thought of parental figures.
My eyes drew towards these motherly forms.
As, I've truly never seen them before.
Who are they,
and more importantly,
what purpose do they hold?
I see smiles painted on these young faces,
eyes so engaged its as if this single moment will never cease to be.
To me it's a moment I've never seen,
one of being seen.
To be so important to a being,
what truly does that mean?
I've never existed within the light in someone's mind.
The darkness is where I reside.
For i have only been me,
ever since the day I opened my little eyes.
I've only just turned 15.
I know that only due to years seen.
No real way of knowing,
when I came to be.
It would seem,
I fell through the cracks in society.
If not a mind to think,
I'd be dead on the street.
If simply not for me,
I wouldn't be.
Trash to you,
food to me.
Concrete,
the only bed I've ever seen.
I taught myself to read.
I knew instinctively that I must conjure up some sense of an identity.
That me existing,
meant I must survive for me.
And, if in this world.
This seemingly hopeless world.
I must think.
I've never seen my eyes absent pain.
I've never even smiled,
as that kid with his painted face.
I don't even know what tomorrow will bring.
Still under this bridge I stay.
Tomorrow,
I shall leave again.
And,
consume the trash,
you throw away.
