Lost Childhood

I see a child, forgiving, accepting, loving and above all pure, and what pain she could bear happily ever so sure, she didn’t know herself and nor did she care to put empty labels, she lived in her own world; the utopian carnival just like the fables, her only adversary was she herself, her strongest weapon her smile, untainted from the societal expectations, she didn’t need to beguile, nor she understood the façade and charades of this cruel personae, what a life she lived, flawless even, I daresay, but like all good things she too vanished in the thin air from whence she came and in her stead came a dowager, with eyes misty from wear and memories of trials long gone, I see a child and she is just as beautiful as the day she was born.
