I've just arrived,
In some mysterious place!
This is base,
Come in Scout,
We can barely hear you,
You may need to shout.

I'm okay,
I was able to land safely,
But, damaged my ship along the way.

Did you say your ship was damaged?
And can it still fly in space?
I'm not sure base,
I need to check it out,
All systems say okay.
And major damage,I really doubt.

What's your current location?
We can't see you on our scanners,
And it's leading to frustration!
I'm alright,
And all is fine for now,
Seems like I'm on the wrong planet,
And landed off-course somehow.
I'll repair the ship,
And get back on course right away,
But since I'm already here,
I'm going to look around, okay?
This place is a mystery,
And as dark as space.
It's okay to breath the air,
But it's really cold in this place.
And what's really odd,
Is the sun is white,
Since it's dark and cold,
I think I'll call it "The Night".
I can't see a lot,
And I can't see far away,
But there's a bright light on the horizon.
I think I'll call it "The Day"!
Now I can see,
And I can feel it getting warmer.
I hope it stays like this awhile.
And not get dark right around the corner.
But I'm dumbstruck!
At what I am seeing,
There's so much life on this planet,
It must be living and breathing!
I see what I'll call "The Mountains",
And things that I'll call "The Trees".
Those things I'll call "Birds",
Flying over what I'll call "The Seas".
I see many things,
That I'll call creatures.
Some are big and hairy,
And some have weird features!
Some are big and slow,
And some are small and quick.
And if I try to pet them,
I'll probably get bit!
There's this green stuff all over,
That I'll start calling "Grass".
It makes me want to sneeze,
And seems to grow real fast!
That cloudy thing in the sky,
Is really starting to "Wet".
Nah, I'll call it:"Rain".
Yeah, that's better, I bet.
My God, this place is beautiful!
It's so much better than home!
I might decide to stay here,
Although, I'll be all alone.
I'll call that a "Valley",
And that thing there a "Waterfall".
There's so many things to name here,
It'll take years to name them all!

This is Base, now Listen:
You need to go back,
And continue your mission.
Come in Base,
Come in, This is Scout,
I wish you could see,
What this planet is about!
Come in Base,
Now listen to me,
I'm not returning to the mission,
I'm done, I'm out, I'm free!
And at that moment,
Scout walked away,
Never returning to his mission,
Naming things till the end of his day!
