if love were a subject,
you would fail every exam.
they would ask you
what the five love languages are
and suddenly you would forget
all the words i taught you
many nights before;
you would forget
all i've done for and given you
just because at the time
you didn't realize
i was trying to teach you something;
you never pay attention in class anyway.
and then you would come home,
crying because you had a bad grade
and begging for me to teach you again,
that you would pay attention this time;
by then, i would know better
and shut the door on your face,
but for now...
come inside,
the kettle's on
and your desk's waiting for you.
