LOVE OF CHRIST = PERSECUTION
The pages are torn,
An angry mob stares, yelling.
No other choice remains,
But to find another dwelling.
“We don’t want Christians here!
Pack it up and leave now, boy.”
Their faces tell the truth,
Bent on anger, ready to destroy.
“Your kind makes me sick.
You claim He is the Messiah!”
Once loved, I’m cast aside,
Now treated like a pariah.
Like the disciples of old,
I’m hated by my own kind.
Even childhood friends wish
To see me imprisoned or confined.
I cannot deny my Lord;
The coward loses paradise.
“Depart, I never knew you,”
Marks the sinner’s dark demise.
Once lost in deep sin,
I had riches, pleasure, and fame.
Entangled by hatred and greed,
Conflict was part of the game.
Then came a gentle voice:
“My child, abandon the evil.
Hope is still before you;
Do not follow the devil.”
I saw two innocent hands,
Nail marks deep in the palms.
Cursed is the man on the tree,
Yet He bore the world’s harms.
Broken, He gave His life,
Reaching through my misery.
He claimed me as His own;
He came to set me free.
My people loved me in sin,
But once I proclaimed His side,
I became a troubled man.
“Drive him away!” they cried.
By grace, I escaped the mob,
Whether traveling near or far.
I am never truly alone;
His light is my guiding star.
Though they have taken all I had,
My mission will never rest.
I’ll preach the Word of the Cross
Until the final breath leaves my chest.
No threat shall silence the Truth,
Nor darkness put out the flame.
Until my last heartbeat is gone,
I will always proclaim His name.
