The sharpness of sword
Hiding in sheath,
Ready to cut
Through layers beneath.
As an act of defense
Or mercy to attack,
Bluntness of edge
Or strategic tact.
It's shield to those
Who wounded before,
Drowned in the battle,
Now searching a shore.
Love as a weapon
For souls left behind,
Senses in shadow,
Ghosts of the mind.
The act of love
A legend, a myth -
Violence of sword,
Or kindness of sheath .
An emotion to feel
That cut down too deep,
Yet heals something
Which was broken within.
