One day this ache will fade away
The hurt will disappear
And I'll move on from yesterday
No longer shedding tears
The pain you caused will dissipate
The wounds will slowly heal
I'll find a way to navigate
The emptiness I feel
I used to think you were the cure
To all the hurt and pain
But now I see that wasn't sure
And love was all in vain
So I'll learn to love and trust again
But this time I'll be smart
I won't let my heart be broken then
I'll keep it safe in my heart
So thank you for the lessons learned
And for the strength I gained
But the day my heart no longer burns
Won't be thanks to you, but to my own refrain.
