POET: John D.K Fatorma
POEM: 'Marriage'
Marriage!
It could be the best decision but the toughest bridge to cross.
It could be the most preferred, but tallest tree to climb.
It could be the most peaceful but roughest voyage to sail.
It could be the most serious but fractured prize to win.
Marriage!
It gives one the strength yet steals one the joy.
It grooms one for grace yet strips one for a race.
It brings one the honor yet tricks one the glamour.
It builds one for favor yet prices one for failure.
Marriage!
Meant to keep men home, yet more men get dethroned.
Meant to house more chicks, yet more chicks are thrown back cold.
Meant to spring up children, yet more children are screwed modernly.
Meant to build up a family, yet more families are flagged disdainfully.
*_Marriage_*!
You are a genuine garment, but most who wear you are Judas, not Jesus.
You are a glorious crown, but most that fix you are slaves, not kings.
You are an honorable prize but most who win you are gobshites, not Solomon.
You are a pleasing limousine, but most who drive you are kidnappers, not drivers.
Marriage!
You preach not conflict but peace.
You teach not hate but love.
You sing not pain but joy.
You spread not lies but the truth.
Marriage!
The true strength of a man.
The weakest straw of a man.
The wisest submission of a man.
The hardest conclusion of a man.
Marriage!
There you lie faithfully but practiced deceitfully
There you live submissively but employed recalcitrantly.
There you walk unquestionably but treated paradoxically.
There you embrace harmony but consecrated with deposing.
Marriage!
Marriage...! You are and will ever be an Angel.
Till eternity, I'm and will always be your defense.
Wipe off your tears from the blames hiked on you.
And fold up your trust to those who mistreat you.
Marriage and not damage!
