Here I am, let me introduce you to me.
My name is Terry and you will understand the way I am, and agree.
In this image, was young, but there are things you need to see.
I lived a hard life, my mom struggled with 5 other kids and me.
We went to church and sang choir songs.
But when we arrived back home, we had to be strong.
Daddy was always drinking, and mama yelled in pain.
Were we one dysfunctional family, so scared to say, we got out of this life and still sain.
Sometimes when I see a storm, it brings me back to so many familiar faces.
And familiar places.
I need to stand tall,
I need to make sure that I don't fall.
Now when you look at my picture, you see a woman with a smile on her face.
In a deck of cards, you would be pulling out an ace.
At sixteen, you don't know any better in life.
You take on the next thing that doesn't bring you strife.
Today I know where my roots will take me.
Somewhere far off, I would hope that you would see.
