I was half asleep
Midnight was the time
I took out of my half-closed eyes a peep
When I heard someone singing a rhyme
On the door someone knocked
I jumped off the bed
I was still scared and shocked
In my heart was a strange dread
Slowly I opened the door
There was no one there
I took a step on the outside floor
My heart still filled with fear
Chills ran down my spine
As I heard the sound of a chime
I was half asleep
