Mirage

Remember being a kid.
You don’t really care.
What’s around the corner.
What might give a scare.
You just ran around, to face what might exist.
Only to find out.
It’s not love and bliss.
Even though it takes you by hand, and plants a subtle kiss.
With trust you take hold.
Believing this is real.
Once out of sight, it’s true colors prevail.
The image is not what it sales.
All rainbows and smiles diminish into fog.
Leaving behind a broken child.
Not fair at all.
Learning from these lessons.
Get up, you start to sprint.
Stopping before the next corner.
Be wise so not to scare.
Give a peek to this one.
Mustn’t show your hand.
It will take every card, with in the time you blink.
Trust is such a fickle creature.
Mostly is one sided.
Hard to find a match.
When you do take its hand.
Trust in every corner.
