Mirror King

Mirror King
You spoke in crowns and promises,
every word polished for applause.
Love was a stage,
and I was only there
to clap.

You didn’t see me,
you saw a reflection
that bowed when you entered the room.
I fed your hunger with silence,
mistaking restraint for loyalty.

You called control protection,
jealousy passion,
cruelty truth.
And I learned how easily
a heart can be edited.

But mirrors crack.
Echoes grow tired of repeating lies.
I stepped away and found my voice
where your shadow couldn’t reach.

You still speak to your own reflection,
asking it for love.
I walked away carrying mine.
