Mom, did you ever love me?

I shared your womb with your son,
My birth day is the same, when he was born,
When we were both growing inside you, you couldn't differentiate,
Now when we are born, why do you discriminate,
When I was given a bottle, Why was he breastfeeded?
He must be weaker than me I guess, so all the nutrients from your milk he only needed,
I also loved to hear your voice,
When you sang for him all your soothing lullabies,
I saw you worried for his admission in our localities top school,
My education wasn't ever your priority, why for the both of us you had different rules?
He got three sets of uniforms and every year a new school bag,
His achievements were zero but still in front of everyone you'd brag,
Why his C grades were appreciated more than my A grades?
Why I had to reach home on time and he was allowed to hang out till late?
I could have easily got into the university,
If rather than buying a car for him, you'd have thought of paying my fee,
Against my wish you got me married and my dreams were shattered,
Why my ambitions and aspirations to you never mattered?
I wish as a woman you'd understand me,
I still ask you
Mom, did you ever love me?
